February Reflections: Two Months into 2026

How are we already almost two months into 2026? Time is flying—but in the best possible way.

Earlier this month, North Star Title COO Peter ‘Casey’ Wall and I had the pleasure of being invited to record two episodes for All About Real Estate with Ken and Jane.  I had only met Ken and Jane Mueller once before at an event, but I remembered immediately how intelligent, charming, and genuinely fun they are to talk with. We discussed the basics of title insurance, what it is, how it works, and why it matters so much in every real estate transaction.  Besides Ken and Jane being successful realtors in our area, they’re extremely ethical and savvy and know what needs to be considered for their clients to have successful closings.  I’ve been in title insurance a very long time and talk to a lot of people, but the conversation was still informative and entertaining.  If you missed listening to it on the radio this past Sunday you can actually watch us on YouTube here.

This year has already kicked off with huge momentum at North Star Title.  Talk of possible lowering of interest rates seems to have people buzzing, that plus the fact that we are still a newer, growing company means there are new files, new clients and new systems that we are building and refining everyday.  On February 21st though we all took some time for a much-needed break to celebrate everything that has been built in the past year.  We had a grand old time at the Galloping Hill Country Club to eat, drink, be merry and count some blessings and be grateful for our wins.  I was very touched when I found out that joining North Star during its first year has earned me entrance into a special club, their Founders Circle.  One of the reasons I feel like I’m fitting in at North Star well is because a lot of us have lived the same story recently.  Making a change from a situation where you’re comfortable to something that seems like it has potential but also is uncertain can be scary.  A lot of the people at North Star, like me, took a jump without knowing exactly where the landing was going to be or what it was going to look like.  Looking back now later, we’re all glad for it.  It’s taken work and honesty and heart and has been so worth it to see all the promise and exciting things waiting for us on the horizon.  People who go for big changes like this are observant, resilient and they care.  And I’m so privileged to work with such a strong team of A players every day.

The party was a great time to reconnect with some title industry friends and talk shop and just got me even more excited to keep working at what we get to do every day.  I say that all the time, “We don’t have to do this, we get to do this” and right now, there is nowhere else I’d rather be.

And with that we’re just sailing along here into March aren’t we?  Don’t forget our Food Drive is still trucking along.  Get in touch if you have a food donation to make before March 27 and we’ll be happy to pick it up!  And I’m also gearing up to go to the ALTA Edge convention in Frisco, Texas next month as well.  Are you going?  If you are let me know, I can’t wait to see you, let’s meet up, grab a coffee and talk title!!!
